Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Certificate

Course Summary

Learn how to improve your customer service, maintain accurate levels of stock, display merchandise and keep the retail environment safe and secure.

Course Description

There are three Units of study:
  • Customer service, selling and product knowledge (50 guided learning hours)
    • Apply customer care in retailing
    • Providing customers with advice
    • How to maximise sales
    • How to process payments and check pricing information
    • Dealing with complaints, refunds and exchanges 
  • Merchandise handling, storage and display (30 guided learning hours)
    • How to receive, move and store goods and materials
    • Maintaining accurate stock levels
    • Displaying merchandise to customers
    • Know how to identify and prevent the risk of theft and loss of stock
  • Personal and organisational effectiveness (40 guided learning hours)
    • Understand key features of the retail sector
    • How to work in a retail team
    • How to keep an outlet safe and secure
    • Rights and responsibilities of employers and employees 

Assessment Method

Assessment will be means of a mix of assignments, case studies, projects and work-based assessments. These work-based assessments will be carried out by a qualified vocational assessor which will include: observation of workplace activities; product evidence; questions; witness statements; personal reflective log.

Study Type, Duration and Location

This Level 2 BTEC Certificate in Retailing is a 120-hour qualification consisting of 3 units. The course would typically be up to 4 months in duration with 4 sessions held at our Training Centre in Marmoura.

Entry Requirement

Learners should be employed within the industry or a realistic working environment. The course is taught in English and requires a minimum of IELTS level 5.

Progression

This Award covers modules of the underpinning knowledge required for the NVQ Level 2 in Retailing. It also covers Key Skills and the Wider Curriculum elements.
