Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Supply Chain Management Principles

Course Summary

This qualification is suitable for those working in a wide change of occupations within the logistics and distribution industry. The qualification relates to occupational standards in supply flow; storage location and facilities; transportation; operational relationships; management information in the supply chain.

Course Description

There are four units of study:

Introduction to supply chain management (3 credits)
- Supply chain process and organisation
- Supply chain interventions, purchasing tools, financial tools
- Other departments and effective communication
Planning and performance in supply chain management (3 credits)
- Production planning, materials requirement planning
- Achieving high performance through objectives and targets
Inventory, storage, transportation and materials handling (4 credits)
- Key features of supplier performance
- Costings, time management and deadlines
- Relationships between supply and goods received
- Efficient processes in the workplace
Communications and use of data (4 credits)
- Use of ICT
- Accurate data
- Sources of information and relationships

Assessment Method

Assessment will be carried out using a mix of case studies, projects and work-based assignments, together with workplace activities, which will include: observation of workplace activities; questions; witness statements, personal reflective log. Assessment will be carried out by a qualified vocational assessor.

Location

The Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Certificate in Supply Chain Management is a 110-hour qualification typically run over 3 months in duration with up to 12 sessions held at our Learning Centre in Maamoura. The course is taught in English and requires a minimum of IELTS level 5.

Progression

This award covers modules of the underpinning knowledge requirements for the NVQ L2 in Warehousing and Storage. It also covers Key Skills and the Wider Curriculum elements.
