A first for learning

Teaching assistants from Doha English Speaking School (DESS), Doha British School and Park House, receive their certificates on completion of a 12 week BTEC course in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
Tutor Melanie Alderton congratulated all the delegates saying, “Everyone has brought something different to the course from previous experience, but now they all have the ‘big picture’ in their minds about how best to support children in the classroom. We covered issues such as literacy and numeracy, behaviour management, monitoring and feedback, first aid, the use of ICT and how to work effectively with the teacher and other colleagues.” Ian White, Director of Qatar Skills Academy, commented that “Having brought this course to Qatar for the first time we are very pleased that schools recognise the importance of qualified teaching assistants in the classroom. I’m delighted that we are now, in addition, running this course with two Qatari Independent schools.”
