Roundtable on the future of vocational education and training
A high level group of employers and officials will meet on Wednesday 23rd at a Roundtable event to discuss Qatar’s plans for vocational education and training. The meeting, organised by Qatar Skills Academy, the General Secretariat for Development Planning and Georgetown University is focused on the implementation issues arising from the actions laid out in the National Development Strategy 2011-2016.
Ian White, Director of Qatar Skills Academy, said that one of the main aims of the meeting is to produce a commitment to demonstration projects and concrete actions which improve the perception of the value and status vocational education as a parallel route to employment and career development. Vocational education is critical to the vision for Qatar as a diversified knowledge-based economy as it enables people to acquire transferable skills.
